Tantalum is the world's third refractory metal, its melting point is only lower than tungsten, molybdenum, as high as 2980 ºC, pure tantalum slightly blue color, excellent plasticity, in the cold state without intermediate annealing can be rolled into very thin plate (thickness can be less than 0.01 mm). The ability of tantalum to emit electrons is weak, because the electron escape power of tantalum is lower than that of refractory metals such as tungsten and molybdenum, and tantalum has been widely used in vacuum technology.
